My adopted sister

This is a blog about finding, and finally meeting my sister who was born the day after my 3rd birthday.  She was put up for adoption because my mother could not take care of 2 children. It was 1971, she had been separated from my father for about 2 years and didn't even know where he was. So after years of searching every New York adoption website, posting what little information I had, and one possiblity that turned out to be false, I had almost given up hope.  Then on Thanksgiving 2010, I had some downtime as an ER nurse, I decided to look at a site I had not been to in years. There it was....she had posted her information and it was an exact match. I didn't even know what to do. A coworker said "Call her!" So I did. It was exciting and scary all at the same time. We talked for a little bit and agreed totalk more that night when I got home from work. I looked at her facebook page that night, and could not believe my eyes, she was a spitting image of my mother! The emotions were almost overwhelming. We filled out the paperwork to have it verified by the state, made tentative plans to meet, then it kind of died down a little bit. I'm not sure if she changed her mind, or if she just needed some time to let it sink in. But then last week, I emailed her, and asked if she had a particular weekend off in March, and she did! Now we are making plans to meet in Jamestown, not too far from where she lives, and I have other family there I can visit as well. I'm excited, but I'm also a little nervous. I know that God has a plan for all of us involved, but I would like a  little insight as to what that might be. We have a lot of similarities...she teaches students how to do nails-I used to be a cosmetology instructor, we have the same taste in colors for our respective houses, and I'm hoping to find out even more in a couple weeks. Will post more as we get closer to the date. But then I wonder, what if she doesn't like me?
